Here I Go On The Approach Trail

Current Location: Amicalola Falls State Park GA

Day 1 – Saturday, March 10

I’m leaving on the Approach Trail this morning and as most hikers do, I weighed my pack and signed in at Amicalola Falls State Park visitor’s center. I’m the 233rd thru-hiker to start this year and my pack weighed 36 pounds with four days of food and +/-5 pounds of water (mistake).

My hike will start off with 604 steps up the side of Amicalola Falls to the top with 8.8 miles of trail to the official plaque indicating the start of the Appalachian Trail on the summit of Springer Mountain.

I’m READY…let’s get this JOURNEY GOING!
